Have a quick look around the internet for work at home positions and you will be bombarded with literally hundreds of thousands of companies who are willing to pay you to sell thier products. They make it sound a very attractive prospect when all you need to do is make a link and whoever clicks on it and buys something gives you a percentage of that sale. The thing is although affiliate progams can be fantastic they can also be a complete waste of time. I am going to take you through an easy and sure fire way to make affiliate programs work for you. Please do not be under the misconception money is just going to fall into your lap. This is a sales job and everyone else selling is your competition. On the plus side of it by its nature sales is a numbers game and your primary objective here is to draw traffic.

Step 1:Decide what youre going to be an affiliate for , if you look down the right hand side of this page you will find my recommended list, these are all companies I have worked as an affiliate for and been paid. My recommendation to you initially would be dating because Ive been promoting dating sites since 2001 and they are still going strong. If however adult isn't your cup of virtual char then I would recommend emay and amazon. So go have a look at those decide which you want to join and sign up.
Step 2: Free hosting. So youre just starting out and have no money to put into your project. Again look down the right hand side of the page and pick some free hosting. If youve never built websites before or cannot code then its worth slowly self teaching yourself it will come in handy , in the meantime however your lack of skills need not stop you. Pick a webhost like Blinkweb who have a drag and drop editor, its exceptionally simple. Play with it a while and get used to it. If you really cant get the hang on if then use blogger!
Step 3: Now you want to head on back to those affiliate programs you joined. I would recommend when you first start to choose the pay per free options , so pay per click or pay per email and when you are more secure in your ability to promote move to revshare where possible. Pay per sale is fine for instant monetary gain but I still have revshare payments coming from some affiliates i stopped promoting YEARS ago. Ok so pick your program and grab the html code ofr your banners or text links. Stick them in your site. Ypu will want to plump your site up with some content , pics , videos or articles on the subjects you want to sell. Say a dos and dont s section for dating , this is especially great if you use blogger or wordpress as your site , create a few blog entries a week it will keep people reading. Puyt your banners and links in strategic places and remember to play around with them every so often. Google has a Hot Map facility that will show you where people are most likely to click on a page that comes in handy.
Step4: Traffic - Now remember I said at the beginning that no traffic = no sales , this is a numbers game. Up until now this might have taken you a day or two to get together , now youre going to spend at least a month or two promoting it. A few handy hints and easy traffic generators. Join up to both share-a-holic.com and onlywire.com. Make yourself a myspac account for the site and a facebook account , also a twitter account. When you write to your blog you simply click your share-a-holic button and youre onlywire button and bam your blog post gets submitted to all the other social bookmarking sites you belong to. Do this daily and your traffic will instantly build up. Follow it up by using pingomatic to ping your website once youve sent it out there.
